Guinea beat the crap out of a hen

Does any one know what could make it do such a thing? My darling silkie hen was sitting on her chicks under the roost and the guinea jumped ontop and was pulling feathers out, scratching the heck out of her and then pulled her over backwards and was pecking at her throat. That momma is such a nice one and for no reason the guinea attacked her. Needless to say I had a pitch fork and that guinea got its @$$ handed to it! It now lives with the ducks and they are giving it the taste of its own medicine.

Hi, I have heard of that from someone else I know and he was quite upset. He shot the guinea after it killed his nicest chicken hen. (It must have been jealous). Seriously I have been having problems with my oldest guinea and maybe even some of the younger ones who hang out with him. I discovered one morning that my only Royal Palm turkey hen had been badly attacked by the guineas sometime during the night or early morning. I am so angry with the guineas. I have seen them chasing other chickens our of the poultry yard also. If they don't watch out they are going to end up in a pen full time and that is sad because I wanted them to be loose and run around and eat bugs. I would conclude that they can indeed be aggressive and injure other beloved poultry. slkymom1-4

And now you see why some no longer have guineas living with their chickens, including me. Guineas can become very aggressive with chickens. My four beat up all my red hens (only the red ones!) and then my rooster. Eventually, I had to decide between them. I'll get guineas again, but only when I can get enough of them and they live separate from the chickens. They do better in larger groups so they can form their own society. Guineas are nothing like chickens.

OMG. I have 3 hens living with 9 guinea's. My hens put the guinea's in their place everyday. Now I am wondering. Is the silkie ok and are the babies?

She's doing good, I thought it broke a babys neck I was spitting bullets! my other guineas are to nice to do to anything. They were raised by the chickens and think they are chickens! So the mean guinea is now living with the ducks and they beat the crap out of him and the Drake will body slam him, Ahhh it makes my day seeing that!

You need more guineas You should have at least 10. They will pick on each other and not the rest of the flock when you have more.

I am having the opposite problem. My hens are mean and aggressive to my guineas. They chase them away from food, chase and peck them when they are out free ranging and my guineas do nothing back to the chickens, even when a hen will chase the baby keet the guineas still do nothing. I have to say though that should my guineas decide one day to go after my hens, they will be getting what they deserve for being such bully hens.
