So yesterday I went out to gather the chicken eggs and leave the 9 guinea eggs, and I would have never thought it, but the guinea is sitting on the eggs in the nesting box. The same box that the Maran and Dom are sitting in too. So all 3 are now sharing the box and taking turns sitting on the eggs. I left 3 chicken eggs with the 9 guinea eggs. I have never seen them do this before. Anyone else?

Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. If they get to fighting over/stealing the eggs from one another there could be breakage. Generally I have had low % hatches on communal nests.

Hmmm. That stinks. My guineas and chickens have all been raised together since chicks. My husband thinks that they do not know who is who. LOL. I hope to get at least a few chicks out of them. We are picking up 20 more guinea chicks and baby pullets at the end of the month. I was wondering if there was a way to sneak them into the nest to make the adult birds think that they were the babies. Probably just wishful thinking on my part though.
