Hello! I have my first flock of 10 guineas who are 4 weeks old. They are in a tractor type coop with the coop above the ground and a ramp leading to the ground which goes into an enclosed run. I initialy had wood shavings as bedding but read a lot about the dangers of that so switched to paper towels while they were in the brooder. Now that they are in the run, I'm not sure what to use for the bedding, or what is safe to clean the coop out with. I was reading peppermint oil would kill bacteria. Thoughts? I am having a real problem with flies and maggots. So gross!!
Secondly, they spill their water and feed like crazy.
Any suggestions on bedding, cleaning supplies, and solutions for spilled food/water? Thank you!
