We had 8 guineas just a few days ago, healthy and acting fine. They share a house with some baby ducks right now. In the last two days, four guineas have died. They do not act sick and we’re walking around just fine and eating and drinking. We thought it may be too cold so we added a second heat lamp and they’ve been fine. Any thoughts as to what is going on?? I don’t want to lose my other ones!!!

Sending the bird in for a necropsy would be a good way to know for sure. Did you find the birds dead? If so it might have been a predator like a weasel, it can be hard to see some bite marks. Where are you located and how cold does it get? Sorry for all the questions just want to figure out what happened:)

coop - technically chicken coop but I read that they work too...

Is this the coop you have the ducks and guineas in?
How many total do you have in this coop and what are its dimensions?
I see you are loosing ducks and guineas.
I would recommend totally cleaning out the coop an look for any point of entry a mouse could get through. A weasel can fit through that hole, and will kill for fun without eating anything sometimes.
You should NOT be heating your coop. These birds are build to stand lots colder climates than what you get in Mississippi. This heating could be doing them harm.
I am sorry for your loss, I hope you have not lost any more. Please keep us updated.

That is the coop we used! We did clean it out well and have not lost anymore. We also moved them to a bigger pen as well. Thank you for replying!!
