Hi all.

I have my first set of guinea eggs in the incubator - they were under a broody who gave up in day 25 so they've had a mixed start in life!

It's now day 29 and 5 out of the 6 eggs have been wobbling for 2 days and cheeping since yesterday. Two eggs have small cracks but they just don't seem to be hatching. Is this normal for guineas? Is something wrong with their environment? Do I need to do something, and if so, what? Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Many thanks,

Hi I have to say I have never hatched guinea before. I have hatched chickens and quail I would say your eggs are moving because they are pipping first internally and then externally. That first crack is the start of your external pip and now it is probably resting hatching is very hard work something that can't be rushed try to be patient. Try not to panic and take a deep breath!!! Your humidity needs to be at least 65%. Good luck :fl

Thanks! 4 have now hatched, although one is weak and has splayed legs and looks like it might not make it. Another egg is still wobbling. A good result, hopefully!

Yes, they have been in an incubator the last few days, which is why I've been able to watch them so closely. I've hatched chickens in this way before but they seem to do nothing at all and then suddenly hatch - never seen this much activity for this long before hatching!
