From one of my friends...

Quote: I think they're too young to be mated (11 weeks old), but I'm not 100% positive. They won't mate until 16+ weeks, right? And I've already asked and been told that domestic guineas don't mate for life like swans. I have one boy with 6 girls, and was told that while the male may prefer one or two hens over the others, most male guineas will just take whatever hen they can get. My guineas go bonkers every once in a while too.

I told her that but thought I'd ask for advice here.

If half the flock is gone all of a sudden... then yah, SOMEBODY in the flock is gonna be going bonkers with an anxiety attack calling for the missing Guineas for a while. They bond with their entire flock, that's their security blanket. Guineas are very flock oriented, your friend should have kept them all and had a happier flock

Tell her to add a big mirror to the coop/pen, maybe that will help calm the Hen down.

Ok, thanks.

When I found out that she got rid of 3 out of 6 I figured she'd be in for trouble.... But personally, she should have realized that 6 guineas in a small neighborhood was too many before she got them. Oh well. Hopefully she'll be able to calm her down with a mirror.

She can also change EVERYthing around in their coop and add a few new things besides the mirror, it'll help distract them all for a while. Small neighborhoods and Guineas don't mix
