Guinea helmet confusion

I have helmeted guinea fowl, and I have always wondered what the helmets are for. I tried looking it up online, but I couldn't find anything. If you have any answers, please post!

Probably just for display or to help them distinguish their species from another; a lot of animals and birds in particular have structures for those reasons.
