Guinea Hen "Buckwheat" noise

At what age will a guinea keet start making the "buckwheat noise" if she is a female.

Mine generally start around 7 weeks. I did have one that started at two weeks. It usually does take a couple months though.

8 weeks is a safe bet.

They can start buck-wheating very clearly by 5-6 wks, but not all start that early. You can try separating each bird one at a time out of sight but within earshot of the rest of the flock (it helps if you stay out of sight too)... and if you have a Hen they will usually start buck-wheat calling to the rest of the flock right away, as soon as separation anxiety kicks in.
