Guinea hens sitting

Hi,

I have 9 guinea hens, one was hit by a car the other day. The next day another went missing, I think she is sitting. I have looked for a nest but have found nothing. I might have found her this morning off by herself eating in the grass, but close to two bushes. Do they get up to eat and stay to themselves when they are sitting. This is the first time I have females ready to sit, wasn't sure what to look for. Any info would be great

My guniea would stay to her self. The boys would go find her and stay with her but she wouldn't really seek them out. She was only broody for 3 days because I moved her(predator reasons) I am assuming they would ask similar to a broody chicken hen. Come and go off the nest here and there to eat and drink.

She is in my horse pasture where there are coyote's and other pretedars. Would like to move her if I can. Though someone told me they will not sit if their eggs are touched.

I dont lnow enough about gunieas to know if they would stay or not. But each bird is different. I have one chicken I can move when broody and one I cant..
If you try maybe get gloves so your sent isn't on the eggs?

Is there is a way you can find her on the nest close to dark and build a secure enclosure for her and have food and water so she doesn't have to leave that may help of you are wanting her to be momma?

I have an incubator so I just stuck her eggs on it. I have bears, racoons and foxes on the prowl right now and didn't want to lose my only girl(that I had just found out was a girl! Lol she was on 40 eggs

It is best to move her and the nest whether or not she will abandon it. Better an abandoned nest than a dead hen. Try making desirable nesting sites in safe areas such as in the coop. One method is to build "caves" using hay or straw bales. At least one member has gotten her guineas to lay in nest sites that she has provided in a wheelbarrow.

If she abandons the eggs, she will begin laying again soon. It is extremely rare for a guinea hen to stay with a disturbed nest.

thanks, once it stops raining, I will try to find her eggs and move her. I do have and old shed I was hoping for them to go in, but did not. I will try to move her there.

You may want to keep her penned in there until she starts a new nest.
