Does anyone else have a guinea that does this? I know its Juju the house guinea- she just pops out an egg wherever she is at the time. The other guinea hens have got the main nest going but I have found single eggs under the peach tree, in a dust bath area, by the house, and two on the front porch. I come home and go on an egg hunt every afternoon collect the egg and put it in the incubator. Is this normal for a guinea? She was an outcast for so long but now the others have taken her in. I am hoping she will get the idea to do a nest, I just don't know. She is truly a unique bird. Thanks

First timers will sometimes just drop eggs here and there for a while, until instinct kicks in and the Hen decides to find an area to nest. She may even start sharing a nest with another Hen or 2

I'm not familiar with guineas but my hens did the same thing. We put golf balls where we wanted them to lay. It worked!

mine started laying right in the hen's nest in the chicken coop. i figured they would lay them under the house, but no, they are pretty smart creatures

OK I feel better now, Juju is really special to me and I have a few of her eggs in the incubator. Taylor, I have a question how do you like your turkeys? I have never had any and thought it would be neat to get some. Do they get along with your other birds?

That is a swell idea ! How many eggs (or golf balls

) would need to be in the nest before the hen will roost?

I love my Turkeys!!!!! mine stay in a 4 foot tall run and they do perfectly, they eat the same food a chickens and mine even lay in the hen's nest's. you ought to get you some turkeys!!! My favorite is the Bronze type, their calm, pretty, lay bunche's of eggs, go broody sometimes, and all around a good dual purpose bird. Mine get along fine with my chickens, no fusses!

Well I got the joy of watching Juju lay an egg right in the middle of the yard. I was going to out to feed the horse and I saw Juju stop and just stand there a few minutes, she did this little hunching move and out popped and egg and Juju went about her merry way. I took care of the horse came back picked the egg up and put it in the incubator. That was so cool.
