I've read that Guinea's are seasonal layers and figured mine would start in the spring. But, I've noticed that 2 of them have been mating now for about 3 weeks. Do I need to go on an egg hunt? They roam all over the place during the day on 55 acres.

That's what I was thinking, but wanted to make sure. Thanks! They are mating but not laying eggs. I usually don't start looking for eggs before March.
Interesting!!Okay, so I was thinking the same thing...but my guineas apparently missed that memo...they started laying eggs two weeks ago ! They just turned four months old the 17th...![]()

Me too! Was just talking about that!! Is Michigan in the path of that HUGE snow storm that's heading north? We are just getting rain down here in NC.Does that mean they are predicting an early spring? I hope so!
Our 8 months old guineas started laying last weekend here in PA, and it is still pretty cold. I'm going to try hatching the eggs of course, but I suppose they might not be fertile until later in the spring. I was not expecting them to lay until March.I've read that Guinea's are seasonal layers and figured mine would start in the spring. That's wonderful. The days are getting a little longer here in NC and a few of my chicken pullets just started this week, so maybe the guineas will be soon!!
