Still up waiting for my Bambi jerky to finish cooking. Plus how could I possibly stay out of a thread like this?

Actually, the idea of seeing all the pink string tomorrow has me so excited I can't sleep.

I had a tan, redtan, white guinea pig female that I got her from the pet store pregnant. I named her Maya and was a good momma. She lived to be five years old and I do miss her even it has been over 30 years. Not sure what kind she was but it was long haired with tons of cowlicks all over her.

I must admit, I would prefer guinea pigs over hamsters in kid's pets but they are stinkers faster than hamsters.

If my DD wants a hamster, I would get her a guinea pig and tell her that was the biggest hamster I got from the store and it was SPECIAL!

I am not too good in selecting a guinea pig from a pet store because alot of them were not handled since birth.

So there are pros and cons having guinea pigs and hamsters. I dont think the American guinea pigs are made to be meat stock but with the right genes, I would imagine they could be good to eat. My cousin ate one down in South America, grilled to perfection and they were delicious!

Country Mom, I saw your silver female and I thought she was beauiful!!! However I would like to have one in solid silver wihtout any white to it for DD when she asks for one or two LOL!

So what should I look for in the pet store or private breeder when I am to acquire one or two in the future. If possible, I would love to have two in one cage.
