Guinea surgery tomorrow!

Glad for the guinea! Skye terriers are so pretty!!! Used to want one; when we lived in town. Now to be a dog living @ our farm they must be able to take down a coyote.... If not they wouldn't last.

I'll post some of the non-gory pics here, the entire album with pics and video of most of the surgery can be found here: Stumpy's surgery.

We quickly realized we had to tape his nostrils shut to keep him under anesthesia:

.....if you want to see the most of the surgery, go to the link to the album at the top of this post and watch the videos in numeric sequence....WARNING: Graphic photos and video

Stumpy awake after surgery, probably thinking to himself "I am so going to peck somebody's eye out over this!":

Haha, don't be fooled, a coyote would not want to take on an adult Skye. They are not small, delicate dogs. Coyotes look for an easy meal, not a fight and Skyes are big and strong enough to give them a good fight. We also have Anatolian Shepherds anyway, so coyotes stay well clear of our place.

Glad Stumpy got thru the surgery! He's a lucky bird!

I was just thinking I wish I could get some of that calming gas for my birds at times! Sure makes that look like a peaceful guinea. Very neat to see how they worked with the bird.

This is my favorite pic out of the whole ordeal... so peacefully going nightnight while his booboo gets fixed

The videos were great too... and I saw that even in an anesthesia fog he was still in true Guinea form when he woke up and instantly made a break for it! (LOL funny but not funny!).

I can't imagine the actual cost of a procedure like that, had it not been done by a friend tho!

Again, thanks for sharing. Post some pics/videos on how well he gets around with the missing digit if you can!
