One of our guinea disappeared for 4 hours today. We thought maybe a raccoon or the neighbors dog got him, but we just found him.

The bad news is he is limping. I looked at the leg and the pad and toes are slightly swollen compared to the good leg... near the knee looks like it may be slightly swollen too. But otherwise I didn't see or feel anything wrong...

I put him in the coop with one of our nice chickens (okay she snuck in, it wasn't intentional) and closed the door so no one could hurt him (the rooster had immediately gone after him when we put him in the run.)

Can anyone offer me suggestions on what to look for and how to help fix him up?

Okay- this first part is purely from my own nightmare experience with a guinea- I had a girl go missing one morning, found her in the ditch that night. Her leg was dangling but she could move her toes etc. She was wet and muddy but didn't look too bad... when I got her to the vet's the next morning, it turned out that she had split her leg open waaay up by the hip and maggots had already set in. We could not save her. If you're able to, wash him off and get a good look at everything- make sure he doesn't have an open split like mine did. YUCK.

Is there any way he got a string or thread wrapped around toes? Our guineas seem prone to that and sometimes the threads are too small to really see, it's only in moving the toes individually that you can make it out.

You're wise to have him separated. I hope he makes a full recovery. (we HAVE had guineas live through their leg injuries, I swear) best of luck.

I am attaching pictures of the foot today... It's twice as swollen now. :( I sprayed it with some anti-bacterial stuff... Bought medicated feed (he said it had antibiotics in it because they didn't have any other antibiotic type stuff).... and some electrolyte stuff for the water...

Still have no idea what it wrong - but in the first picture you can sort of see the green spot... Between two toes there is a green spot that is really swollen... I didn't really see puss coming out but then again the bird is really strong and constantly moves...
