I have had chickens before but this is my first guinea experience. Just a few observations, YMMV.

My guineas are 2 1/2 weeks old. They are really feathering out and they fly! They are in a brooder that is made from a water trough about 30 inches high and they can almost fly right out.

They are wilder than chickens. They really don't like to be handled even though we handle them pretty often.

They poop and stink more than chickens.

But I think they are going to be a lot of fun.

Yeah they are really wild. Mine about smash themselves against the brooder wall rather than let me touch them. I have realized that they will never come running to me to be picked up like my chickens do.
But they are beautiful birds nonetheless.

And, they are nowhere near as bad as ducks for poop and stink.

yeah you are right about the guineas!

This is my 2nd bath I have hatched from eggs and they are some wild little guys! Even if I walk past the brooder they scatter and are frantic.

The 1st guineas I hatched are about 4 months old now and live outside. They are a blast!

They hang out with the chickens all day and make the coolest noices! Neighbors will know you have guineas! Mine fly all around and sleep in the trees at night.

At 1st I was kinda sad cause I realized the guineas were never gonna fly to me and hang out with me. SO I let them fly away. Well, the next day when they all came back I realized that they really did love me! They just show it differently than chickens.

Have fun with your guineas!!!

Mu guineas could never be tamed but............they will come to me when I call them and some have taken bread right out of my hand. Then there are the nights they will not come inside for anything!!!!!! I can get very frustrated with them but love them.

That's exactly what I tell people, their just not like chickens at all. I consider mine tame enough, but they still get freaked out by things, like the wind, a hammer laying by the fence etc. etc. I'm just happy their tame enough to stay inside their little 4 foot high fenced in area, what a joke my fence is. One did let me know what it thought of it once by flying up on top of the coup, but then it flew back into it's fenced in area.
