How does one go about sexing guinea fowl? Do they damage gardens if they get through the wire? Can they be relied on to eat ticks etc from the yard outside a fenced area?

It's hard to determine gender until they're at least 2 months old. The males make a one syllable sound and the females make a 2 syllable sound. Other than that the wattles and helmets are larger on the males. I don't know about gardens and ticks. Maybe someone else will.

Ditto. The hens make a kind of buckwheat-buckwheat sound and they're much louder than the males. Its hard to tell them apart even when they're all mature, but my males were a tad bit bigger then the females.

I only kept them for a short period of time, I found them annoying and aggressive with my other fowl (but that's not always the case). They never bothered my garden or my flower beds. They'd mostly stick around the wood line near my house and forage. We got them for clearing ticks (seed ticks, EW) and snakes. They'd did an excellent job of it for sure.
