Guineas.........

If you bring in adult guineas, be aware that they must be penned for at least 6 weeks to get them to understand that your place is now home to them.

I wondered abt that. Mine will let Himself open a door for them, and I'm trying to acclimate them w/the gran bc he wants to give them celery. But they wouldn't let either touch or pick them up as I do.

Your quote was messed up and will continue to be messed up for anyone that quotes it because you removed the first part of the quote information.

In the future if you want to just quote part of post, highlight the portion that you want to quote and click on the reply button right below the highlighted text.

What you did was to remove all of the highlighted text in this example.

If you had left the very first line and only removed the highlighted text in this example, the quote would not have become messed up.

I am trying to find ANYBODY that will say nice things about Guineas. I hatched 4 and am going to pick 6 adult Guineas in the morning. Everything I read about them is negative. The ones I hatched are teenagers and I let 2 of them out and they vanished with no sign of them anywhere. I want them for bugs and for the noise. I enjoy farm sounds. I also read that clipping their wings is a moot point as they get out of the fence anyway. I have a 4 ft. fence. I read that the fence can be 2 miles high and they will still get out. I guess they are what they are and am wondering what to do. I have wanted Guineas forEVER!
I love guineas. They are fun and full of expression. They are like little dinosaurs!
They eat ticks, attack small snakes and rodents, and... MINE PROTECTED MY FLOCK TODAY. A coyote came after the chickens, and the guineas not only alerted me of a predator, but they also chased it away.
They are loud. They are likely to wander. Some people don't like them. But for me, they are gems. I hope you enjoy yours!

I love my goonies- they're all I have bird - wise. I'm just starting my second yr w/them, & folks in this forum havd been very patient w/my questions. Of my 4 remaining adults, only one is female. She rarely gets to roam these days for her own good; as long as she can't, the rest don't. But, she's the most patient w/my grandson, will eat out of his hand where as the boys are more wary of him.
They all still sit or graze near me, one still hops up in my lap or sits beside me. The boys used to ride on my shoulder until mating season kicked in-I guess when picking a mate, riding mom's shoulder isn't cool.
The 2 keets I have now-one is extremely calm, hops on my hand, rides on my shoulder, the other is like a mouse scurrying everywhere, his little heart pounding when he is caught. -and 6 more in the incubator.

Wow! Great guineas!!!! Sounds like they deserve some extra mealworms! :celebrate

I'm pretty obsessed with my guineas 😂
I got them at a day old and made sure to handle them and talk to them everyday. I bell trained them from day one so I never have an issue with them going to their coop.
Mine are the most noisy when they want us to come outside. They will yell at the back door and as soon as I go out there the screaming turns to "chirp chirp" and they act like they don't know who was screaming. Lol
They follow us so closely around the yard that I have to be careful not to step on them sometimes. We've had a lot of fun having them and they are really funny, quirky birds.
