As long as they want to. Mine have access to the outside right now. When the sun is shining they go out in the snow for awhile and then return to the coop.

The deeper the snow is the more likely they are to take to the trees and refuse to come down.

My guineas refuse to walk in the snow - they fly to the nearest bushes/shrubs and then cry for their mates. They only come down if I spread mulch or cardboard shreds on the floor. This winter I kept them in the coop when it snowed - I was worried that they will be eaten by owls if they sleep outside in the snow
