Guten Tag everyone. I've had chickens for almost a year and have been lurking among forums and pages, but only now have gotten around to posting because I haven't found anybody to share all my interests with yet.

I'm originally from Germany but have been in the states for most of my life now. Finally got settled on 5 acres in NW FL with 10 chickens, 2 pigs, 3 goats, 3 dogs, and 3 cats with more pigs and goats on the way.
I've gotten the OK from my fiance to go chicken crazy! So my first experience with chickens was a mess of 2 sets of 20 TSC specials that the neighbors dog massacred on 3 occasions. Now I'm left with 3 of the original chicks grown up. 1 brown, 1 Cali white, and 1 bantam roo. My 3 other older girls are local rescues, 1 brown, 1 black and brown, and 1 Easter egger. I recently got 16 various breed chicks 4 weeks ago and only 4 are remaining. So thats really brought me down about raising chickens so far.
I luckily only work 2 days a week buffing and painting cars, and we're trying make this land our homestead. I've got so many questions but this is my welcome post, so good vibes.

Welcome to BYC. Don't be shy about posting and asking questions, lots of good people and great help among the ranks here. I have been watching Homestead rescue on the Discovery channel lately and although I admire their determination and would love it I don't think this city boy from Tampa could hack it.

:welcome:celebrate

Glad you're here!

If you haven't yet, please make your chickens a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise.
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it! :D
