Guts

I processed 25 Cornish cross last fall and burned it. I got a nice hot fire going and burned the mess a little at a time. Feathers stunk a little and the innards take a little time to burn, but it was way easier than burying.

I bury mine in the garden compost pile with the chicken poop that aquires from having 30 to 55 little and big feathered rodents running around on my property. About 1.5 to 2 feet down will take care of any stench that may happen. I spread the compost from last summers killings in the garden this spring and was surprized that the only thing that was recognized was the feathers. Everything else looked like dirt to me. No smell and my garden looks incredible from all the nuetrients..

The buzzards here mark processing day on their calendars... I turn them out in an open field 300 yds from the house and the mornings leavings are gone before nightfall.
