What You Can Do to Stay Healthy

Stay informed. The above website will be updated regularly as information becomes available.
Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people.
Take everyday actions to stay healthy.
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.

PLEASE
Stay home if you get sick. CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.

Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds and other social distancing measures.
Find healthy ways to deal with stress and anxiety.
Call 1-800-CDC-INFO for more information.

Thanks, thats pretty interesting. The media kinda let it go somewhat. Other more important things!

A couple of weeks ago, my children and I got pretty sick. When I took the kids to the doctor, he said it could be H1N1. He also said they are not bothering to test for it anymore except in extreme cases. So a lot more people could have had it than anyone realizes.

It is knidof annoying me, because the CDC never changed it from and epidemic (or whatever they labeled it as), and they said it will come back this fall, but it is so hard to find info about it!

Thanks!

Kappa, I searched for info when the media cut back on coverage. I think it is important to remain calm & informed. I suspect the media is treading lightly to prevent panic. Fear serves no good purpose. Knowledge is power.

Mamagardener, I am glad you & your children are feeling better. I am sure there are people who have been ill that did not see or call a doctor. It is interesting to know testing is no longer routine.

Warmfuzzies, The WHO did call it a pandemic but emphasized that only means it is spread in many countries & does not mean it is a severe illness.

There is a lot of info on the website & many links.

Actually, those people who got it and recovered are much more fortunate than those of us who did not. Your body has produced antibodies, so should the strain mutate, you're covered!
