Habitat questions

I took 2 large rubbermaid containers...cut a hole on each side then connected them together with duct tape..yes...duct tape..gotta love it! They have 2 large rooms to play in..one with a perch and plenty of room to run, dust bath and sleep and the other side is where they go to sleep...I used some netting with pcp piping to make a oval cover so they can jump and spread the wings....right now I have 5- 6 week old chicks...but did have 17 at one time. It only took an hour to make it and I added 2 perches by using sticks and drilling holes on the side and placed the sticks in the hole...I am not creative at all...but it was easy and they love it! The bathtub might be more of a hassel then you need..not to mention messy for the nighty cleaning! I am having the issue with ongoing cold weather so they have to remain inside until it warms up..but they have alot of room to run and play..I do let them outside in a run for a couple of hours...when it warms up in the afternoon...you might look into making something larger for them...either way good luck and enjoy!

A good solution is to find an old baby playpen to put your growing chicks in--something along these lines:

It saves you from having to build one, they can be hosed out, and they're fairly sturdy. You chicks will eventually be able to fly out, however. If you've got lots of chicks, I'm sure you could connect two. I wouldn't recommend either the bathtub or the kitchen, because, at least with our chicks, they were very dusty and they pooped a LOT. Not sure I'd want to keep them in the battub--besides, where would you put them when you took a bath? They need a permanent, comfortable pen.

Best of luck!
