Hi and thank you for all the great questions. It's been 3 weeks since I've gotten Goldie. We have had her in her own portion of the run with a fenced-off area so they can look but not touch. Also had a portion of the coop the nesting portion closed off for her too. They all seem to calm down and I've had time to watch her like a hawk. So I took down the fencing in the gate in the coop and just watched to make sure she didn't get hurt. It was a lot of packing and a couple of times I wanted to intervene but saw that she was okay. Within less than a minute they lost interest and went about their business. It's day three and the only problem I'm having is Goldie likes to stay in the nesting area and some of the pbr's won't lay eggs while she's in there. So for now I'm taking her out while they lay their eggs. And then putting her back into the run where she likes to go into the coop and hang out. I think that they are going to get along just fine. It's just taking a lot of patience. Are coop is big enough for 12 birds we have five with Goldie next six. There are multiple feeding and water stations throughout the run and in the coop. There is no place for her to hide in the coop though. I think that's why she likes to stay in the nesting area. It's going to be a long winter. Thanks for all your questions and help. Yes, letting them "duke it out" has a high probability of this resulting in the death of the bantam.
It's now too late to quarantine her so that is out.
Can you get a second bantam from the same place you got the first? Having 1 bantam trying to integrate into a flock of PBRs is asking an awful lot. PBRs are pretty dominant birds.
You will have to leave the bantam(s) in the "look don't touch" arrangement for several weeks until things have calmed down a bit.
You also need A LOT of space for a successful integration. How big is your coop? How much roosting space do you have in inches? How big is your run? Do you have multiple feed and water stations? Are their various height perches in the run? Are there places to get out of sight of the PBRs in the run?

When you write that the coop if big enough for 12 birds, I get a little concerned. If it is big enough for 12 birds it must be about 4'x8', correct? That is big enough for 12 birds.
