I have had wonderful mixed breed laying hens for several years. Still have one of the old ones, about 6 yrs. old now and still laying. I got what I thought to be three new pullets over the summer, from a breeder. At least I asked for three pullets. One Cuckoo Maran, one Polish, and one that was supposed to be a lavender Opfington, but I can't figure out what it is. I am hoping someone can tell me when I post photos. The Cuckoo turn out to be a Roo, the Polish is looking like it may also be one, as for the third bird, I have no idea. I then went and picked out a Welsummer at a local breeders, who has already started laying. Thankfully at least so far all are healthy. I really didn't want Roos. The coop is outside the bedroom. I could handle the one Cuckoo 'cause he is very pretty, but if the others turn out to be male too, they are all going! (except for my two confirmed hens). The one below is my favorite, Ester.
