had to cull newborn today..

I had a chick hatch today that had not fully absorbed the yolk yet. There was a little red knobby looking thing sticking out the bottom of its belly. Started out it seemed fine, but then just kept getting weaker & weaker. I tried giving it a bit of sugar water it took some but very little. Pretty soon it was just sort of lifeless. So I did the humane thing and culled. This is the first time I have ever killed a critter intentionally. I know God will forgive me, as I just couldn't let the little thing suffer.

I had to cull one of my batch and it was really hard. You just have to know you did the right thing and move forward.
