Had to make a few modifications

Now that's creative use of a dog crate divider!
Thanks. I got the crate at a pawn shop to use to integrate the two chicks I somehow ended up getting at the feed store. šŸ™ˆ

We went for llama food and they had 2 Barnevelder chicks almost 4 weeks old in one of those stacked brooders being pecked at by a bunch of little chicks. Felt sorry for them that they could barely even stretch their wings. šŸ™ˆšŸ˜‚

I totally get it! What a pitiful sight!!! Mine was a 3 week old chick in a bin with a lot of day/week olds and a serious case of pasty butt. The people in charge looked to be waiting for him to die. I felt sorry for him, and wanted to see if I could save him. His butt was so dirty I couldn't tell what was going on, and his wings were so pretty! He was acting fine. I got him home, and turned out not to be pasty butt at all, he was pooping normally in between the mounds of poo that otherwise covered his rear end. And then he turned out to not be female :( But he's a really pretty rooster...

More adventures in chicken-proofing the coop. So as I mentioned earlier, in addition to the electrical conduit on the back they were also trying to roost on the fans. After some trial and error I think I finally got one fan where they can't roost in it, without compromising air flow, and where I can still adjust the angle as needed. We will see if it works tonight.

Of course the girls had to supervise...

Ingenious.

So far the chickens haven't managed to get on Fan #1, although there is a lot of fussing and clucking about it at bedtime. šŸ˜…

So this morning I finally figured out how to try to keep them off of Fan #2. This one was a little harder because of where it is located, and trying to make sure I didn't just end up with a "shelf" to make it easier for them to get up there. Fingers crossed this works as well as the other one.
