Had To Share My SIL's Backyard (Photos)

She lives in the older part of town, I don't know El Paso very well, there are many HUGE old Mansion type homes in the area... And a Catholic School, it is on a hill over looking a highway and a mountian with a cross on it at Chrismas time.

As far as I can remember, they are not put in with any type of mortar look, just a dab on the back to keep them in place on the glass.

Ok, here is what my SIL told me ...

It's clear silicone caulking. Leave it flat for 4 or 5 days to cure. We have also used white waterproof tub and tile caulking. That you can stick on and it won't drift.

Ok, so it's silicone on GLASS or PLEXIGLASS? Can you do either, or is one better than the other? I gotta get me one of those going!

Most of what she has is glass, they have a friend with a glass/window company, so they get much of the glass and windows for FREE!! Such a deal!!

The glass bead are at Michael's and some of the bigger Joann's Crafts and Fabrics. And they even have them at Dollar Tree, if you have any of those $ type stores, you might look there. Stained Glass suppliers might have them.. They are flat on one side and rounded on the other.

I have made a few pieces with the glass nugget before I started using stained glass. I used clear silicone on glass. Just put some silicone on the sheet of glass a spread it around. Like frosting a cake. Do a few inches at a time. I use a tool for tile work to spread the silicone it has little notches in it . So the silone caulk has ridges in it. Make the silicon thick enough so the nuggets sits in the silicon and it comes to the part where the nugget starts to round off. Very easy and addictive when you get the hang of it. You can use plexy glass. It cost more than glass though

Ok, she lives in Central. That is a star on the mountain, and unfortunately it's lit most of the year now... it used to be special, they would light it for Christmas. Then during Desert Shield and Desert Storm we lit it for our troops and someone came up with the bright idea of having it on year round,, so it's lost it's meaning,, sad!!
