Hahaha! Wow!

I just got off the computer for a sec to check on ma' duckling.
And he had pushed the screen off the top of his brooder and jumper out.
I had some pillows and blankets in the floor and he crawled up and was sitting on his favorite pillow.
witch I never let him sit on cuz I know he will poop on it.
(This pillow is my favorite too.)
and by the time I came in there he had pooped ALL OVER it.
so I cleaned it up.
Got another pillow.
Put a towel on it.
Set it in the floor.
And put the duck on the pillow...
And left.
Now he is very happy on his pillow.
Though it is not his favorite.
It will work.!

He is sitting in my room watching T.V.
He loves watching T.V. for some some odd reason!
Do any of your ducks or ducklings do this?!?

Closest to that for me was the night the ducklings - eleven of them, around five weeks old - discovered that they could get out of the playpen brooder (I do not recall what I had done wrong . . . . was probably so tired I forgot to close the door. Their brooder took up just about our entire guest room). And THEN they discovered a couple of potted plants in the room! Big pots, with lots of soil!

Well, they were partying so hardy it woke me up and when I checked, they were running all around, in the brooder, outside the brooder, pulling on the edges of the puppy pads and chewing on the insides, soil was all over the place, on the floor, on the walls, water from wet ducky feet on the wood floor . . . what a mess!

Sounds fun!
The first time mine found out how to jump out is one night when he was a few days old.
I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of him screaming (Kinda like the one they use to call you.).
As soon as I heard him I looked all over in his brooder. (His brooder was right next to the head of my bed).
I started lifting up his towel and calling him.
He was still calling but I could not see him!
I then got my hands and knees and was searching everywhere in my room!
But as it turns out he had jumped out and was under my bed.
I sat up for unother couple hours with him.
But since then he has had a screen on the top of his box and if I forget to put it back on after I am done playing with him he jumps out as soon as I leave the room.
And just recently he has been pushing the screen off and then jumping out.
so now I have to put a heavy object on the screen!
He is such a pain in the rear but he is more than worth it!!!

Be careful to be sure that screen is secure!

Not to worry you, but to prevent tragedy, I have heard of cases in dog runs where a dog jumped up and got his head caught between the lid on top of the run (because the dog had jumped out before), and the top of the fence, and was strangled. I would be horrified if your baby's head got caught between the side of the box and the screen. And ducklings do CRAZY things like that sometimes.
