Nothing crazy to say atm but i'm new to the site and eager to make some farmy chickeny friends. I'm new to having chickens, i got three day old chicks in march. An easter egger called May, a plymouth rock called Marie, and a rhoad island red called Lee. Lee layed her first solid egg, i was impressed she only 3 and half months old, its small about 3 inches long. The others are laying too but they are soft shell eggs.

Welcome to BYC and the world of chickens!

Your hens are very pretty. I have those breeds as well, and I like them all.

Are they getting layer food? Do they have oyster shell? Hens aren't suppose to lay shelless eggs more often than once every few months at most. Besides that, they look healthy and happy.

Best of luck!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Aww....adorable!! X2 on making sure they have access to oyster shell and layer feed. These are very important to good health in chickens and the calcium in the oyster shell will prevent soft shells, egg binding and possibly prolapse. So always keep plenty of oyster shell available next to their food and water.

Enjoy your birds and we do welcome you to our flock!
