Hey all, Momageddon from just north of Seattle here. I'm getting ready to start my very first flock this coming spring, so I wanted to get hooked up with a community of chicken lovers to make sure I'll do right by my girls!
I'm developing my plan for a 1/4 acre, fenced suburban back yard... With 2 dogs who are bone heads. :/ I'm probably not going to be able to free range, but I'm looking at chicken tractor plans so they'll be able to get the most out of the yard. City limits allow up to six hens and no roosters, so egg laying ladies are the plan (plus, my two year old daughter is so sweet and kind-hearted to animals that I couldn't do meat chickens. I just couldn't).
Currently looking at Austrolorps and Rhodies, planning to start with pullets. Phew! Enough about me... Looking forward to meeting you!
