Ok, well I got my two new rats today - and one is hairless.

Is there anything I need to be aware of with their skin? Besides being careful of the sun? Or do I just treat her like any other rat?

Do all hairless rats have red eyes?

Not all hairless have red eyes, they can be the color of any other rat. Just make sure your rattie can stay warm! Try a hammock with a sleeve sort of thing so that it can snuggle into it like a bed. If it's skin gets gross, go ahead and use a mild soap and give it a warm bath.

My son used to have one. Lord Mortimor. They're more prone to tumors than a rat with hair on them. That's what took Mortimor from us. Otherwise they're just as hardy as any other rat...but more loveable. Mortimor thought he was a puppy dog and ran around my son's room on the floor...he'd stop and lick his hand.

I miss Mortimor!
