This is my first time hatching eggs, so I'm pretty new to a lot of this.

I have 7 eggs in my incubator right now, and candled them for the first time on Day 5. Three are too dark to really see (two marans eggs, and one blue eggs that's just super dark).

Of the four remaining, one is definitely infertile. The other three are doing well, though - fertile!

However, one of my fertile eggs looks completely fine on the outside, but when I put it to the light, you can see hairline cracks all around the egg. There is a circular point where it looks like the egg may have been lightly pecked or something. But the cracks wrap almost completely around the egg.

You can't see the cracks with the naked eye, but they are very obvious when put to the light.

On day 5, I figured that it was probably a goner, but decided to leave it for a bit and see what happens.

I checked again today (day 7), and there's a little embryo moving in there and everything!

Could this chick actually be OK in the end?? Or is it doomed because of the cracks?

It will all depend if bacteria finds its way into the inside by way of those cracks. I'm not sure what to do except wait and see...you never know, it could be fine. Wash your hands when handling :)
