Half closed eyes? [pictures included]

My Cochins were great birds. They were super friendly. My daughter would carry our rooster around like a baby, and he was a big ol brute!

I ended up selling the standards, I still have bantams though. I got rid of my standards bc they were killing me in feed. Those chickens ate a ton (understandably so, they were huge). They were constantly broody, which was only a problem bc they were my main breed and its hard to let hens brood when you don't have any eggs for them to sit on.

I adore my bantam Cochins. They live with my Silkies, and are just adorable. My little frizzled hen is a fabulous layer. She typically only takes one day off each week. My bantams hardly eat anything, a 50lb bag of feed goes a long way. Anyway, obviously I really love my Cochins

And my Silkies, they're my two fav breeds for sure!

Really? C: Aww! Poor broody hens :p That's too bad though- but at least you love your new ones <3
I just got my silkies today! A white, silver, and blue! They're so precious, though the white one chirps like crazy unless I talk to her, let her scramble on to my hand, or hold her. Or if it's dark and she knows I am not around.

I am also curious why my chicken's eye is always half closed.

It's the specked sussex in the middle. She acts normal and has been doing this for atleast a month.

I had one that did that when I first brought them home. She was the most nervous of the bunch and always was the one that was picked on. I honestly think she held her eyes closed for protection because they often pecked her head and she'd squint them further shut. She doesn't do it anymore and not getting picked on either, since she grew to be bigger than the rest. Lol
