My girl, Noodle isn't feeling well.
Background:
-6 months old
-Light brahma
- Recently moved from smaller coop and run with same age sisters to large coop and run with a rooster and another, older, hen
I have isolated her since noticing she looked and was acting strange. She has been in a dog crate inside.
Symptoms:
-strangest symptom is that JUST the left side of the top of her head seems swollen or raised. It's not squishy and doesn't have definite edges like a growth would. It makes the feathers stick up. This also makes her eye on the right side of her head look buldgey. That's what alerted me that something was wrong. She looked like a crazy seagull.
-lethargic: mostly lays down on her side all day
-not eating much. She will eat corn on the cob, watermelon, and walnuts in small portions. I have been tube feeding her recovery solution just since twelve hours ago.
-VERY occasional sneezing/coughing. She has maybe done it the times in the past 5 hours.
-occational labored breathing
Any idea??? I've read about swollen head syndrome, but it doesn't seem like that to me.
I was wondering if the head thing could be an injury from my rooster trying to mount her? But the lethargy and sneezing??
I've attached some pictures and a video.
You can see how the right side is normal but the left side is raised.
This is her buldgey eye side. Her pupils rapidly dialate and shrink, also
Then this is the swollen head side eye. The left. She keeps it closed while the other side is open.
