In the pin the egg was retrieved was 1 Black Australorp rooster, Two Barred Rock hens, one Red star hen. Can anybody tell me what this means???? Anyone ever experienced this??also how can I add the photos to the thread?

The rooster has nothing to do with what an egg looks like. The brown color is sort of "spray painted" onto the outside of the egg; evidently, one of your hens has a problem with her spray rig (that last bit is me being silly).

This site has a requirement that you have to post a few times (I think it's 10 posts, been a while since I checked, and am feeling too lazy to look it up at the moment

)before you can post pictures - it's supposed to cut down on spammers somehow. After you've been here and posted a few more times, you can do pictures.

Welcome to BYC!

The rules have changed! Yes, you can post pics as soon as you sign on to BYC. :-)

But Bunnylady is right...the color of the egg comes from the dye they put on it right before laying it. If they have been doing a lot of laying, they can run out of dye and don't have time to make more, and as they age, their eggs will get lighter as well.

Enjoy your wonderful flock and welcome to our flock!
