I have texas A@M quail that are supposed to hatch on the fourth. My first quail hatch.I hope some make it,or rise from the dead!

I have a batch that have been in the incubator 17 days today. It is my first hatch too. I am a little worried though. The incubator I am using is a still air without a turner. I have been turning the eggs myself. I have had no way to measure the humidity levels either, but the temp has stayed consistently between 99.5 to 100 degrees. The guy who gave me the incubator had many successful hatches, so hopefully everything will work out. Maybe I will get a few new babies!

Cool! i tried to candle mine and saw knothing. Its hard to see anything..Friday i well crank up the humidity and see what happens for Sunday. My quail eggs took five days of shipping so i hope they werent thrashed so bad that they are scambled eggs!

I am getting a little worried now, still no new babies after pipping I was expecting something by now. Maybe my number of days are off a little. I have seen some movement so I think they are alive. I also had one that had yellow fluid coming out of the pip. I very quickly took it out to get a sniff and make sure it wasn't rotten. It had no smell so I stuck it back in there. This is much more nerve wracking than letting my broody hen do her job. I keep finding myself just sitting and staring at the incubator. Thank goodness I had to work today or I would make myself nuts.

I went through the same thing, i,m on my third hatch now, i found mine take longer than 17 to 18 days to hatch ,must take a day or so to kick in. Try not open the incubator when there piping they will get stuck in eggs,i had to help 2 chicks out last hatch, cause i opened the incubator.

Let me know how it goes. Mine pipped last night around 8 and i am still waiting for them to hatch. I assume all is well. They are still poking at the pip...

How do you know when it's time to help? I've always been too late and they are usually dead by the time i decide to try.

I had not opened the incubator but finally did this evening. I still had those three pipped but no sign of progress. Two of the three were dead, but fully formed with the yolk absorbed. After seeing those I went ahead and helped the one that was still alive. He is not walking well at all, but did drink a little. Now I wonder if I should have helped the others faster ugghhhh such a hard call. I was really planning on not intervening, but gracious that little one had been working so hard for so long! I have some new pipping too, so hopefully my lil rescue baby will have some friends, if I did not ruin the hatch by opening the incubator.
