Hamburger grease and scratch grains good winter treat?

Interesting idea. Sounds like a spin on suet cakes. Animal by-products are a much better choice for peafowl over grain by-products. Soy is bad as an added protein in feed for peas as it stacks on weight which is good for growing meat birds with very short lives, but for long-lived birds that should be tall and lean, it is a very poor choice.

Animal by-products add many of the needed ingredients that peas need that they would naturally forage if they were to free-range. I see no downside to adding hamburger grease to the diet and if I had access to a grease pit from McDonald's I would certainly experiment with it.

Thanks KsKingBee I was hoping you would chime in
My wife was making chilly today so thought about making a suet cake like treat
The weather is getting chilly down here so thought some fat would be good to help keep them warm
It went over real good will probably give them a cup every night
between them and the chickens should last a few days
I used a lot more scratch then what is in a suit cake turned out like sticky scratch

I would go light on the meat fat. In moderation, it should be fine. I chop pork fat up and give it to my girls. A flock of 30 birds, so they won't get more than a taste anyways. Beware that daily scratch treats can cause a huge overload of visceral fat, making the layers more prone to difficult egg laying.
