We just finished our new coop! My husband and I worked very hard on it! The floor is 4' x 8' and it is about 7' tall in the center. The nest boxes come out the side with a hinged lid that opens for easy egg gathering. The small doors slide open for the chickens to get into the run (which will be built next) and easy cleaning. The tin Dutch hip style roof adds good ventilation. I'm happy to say that about 50% of the materials were recycled from stuff that we had laying around at the house we just bought, including the storm windows that we took down.

My husband designed the coop himself with ideas from other buildings that he's seen and from suggestions here on BYC! We are so proud of our coop, we wanted to share these pictures!

Welcome!  It's beautiful!  I do hope the all the openings are covered in hardware cloth, not screening.  Very nice work.  Mary

As of right now we are closing the windows at night and only opening them slightly during the day until we can get the hardware cloth over them. The openings in the top are secure.

I like it. Looks very well planned out. Left over siding from your house? I did the same with mine. :D
The siding and roof tin were some of the only materials that we bought. Otherwise the rest of the lumber was pretty much scavenged.
