I would add more ventilation.  Are the windows facing south?  cover with well secured hardware cloth and just have the entire openings open.  Consider a big opening in the door too.  Mary

We took your advice. We have been getting tons of rain here in East TX and wanted closable windows. We took the storm windows off and covered the openings with hardware cloth. My husband added these shutters last night!

Love top hinged windows!......I took static windows(slider panels) and hinged the at the top, light in winter and ventilation in summer.
