ok everybody keeps telling me different things about how to hand turn an egg... could an experienced person please give me instructions here? I am incubating for the first time...

You can put an X an a O on opposing sides an turn them 3 times a day. Always odd numbers. Or you can just roll them around 3 times a day. If your incubator has a fan then you can put them in a carton an then put a brick under one side of the incubator to tilt the whole thing. Going from side to side 3 times a day.

Okay this is how I always turn my eggs:

WITH A PENCIL gently draw a 'O' on one side of the egg. Then on the other side of the egg mark an 'X' (on the SIDES of the egg. not the ends)

three times a day turn the eggs. (example- In the morning turn every one of the eggs on the side that has the O on it. then in the evening come back and turn all the eggs on the side with the X. Then turn them all back on the O before you go to bed. The O and X is basically just there so that you know you have made a complete turn.

Thats basically it. Good luck with your eggs

One more thing to add. Do not turn the eggs completely over. Basically only 180 degrees, so it would be like this from X -turn to the right until you reach the O and then the next time you turn them it would be to the left which would be back to the X. I even put little arrows on my eggs to I don't forget which way to turn them.
Here's a picture to help you understand the X and O's:
