New to incubating eggs and wanted to know..How many times do you turn eggs a day AND do you count from the day you set eggs as day 1 or the next day same time as day 1?

My personal opinion is to count from the same time, next day. (A full 24 hours in the bator before we start counting). There may be other opinions on this subject that are far more educated than I am on the subject, but I thought I would throw in my two cents with hopes of helping.

I'm guessing your right.I just needed anothers opinion to make sure. Thanks for relpying!!

Mine always seem to start hatching on day 21 counting the first day as day one, if the temp's right. If it's a little low, then day 22, and it'll be a long drawn out hatch.

the last hatch i did, i didnt want to take the time to write on the eggs or roll them perfectly. ALL i would do was rub my hand across all of them, so they rolled. 3x a day. They hatched fine

I felt like i was doing what a momma hen was doing LOL

i am going to use bator without turner this time and i am going to do the same, just put my hand on each and roll...actually i may even take some paper towels and make a nest like area in my bator....

If it's still air, the eggs need to be re-arranged often, as well as being turned, so temps will even out between being in warm/cool spots. Forced air, I don't think it matters if you re-arrange them or not, as long as they get turned enough.

Hens turn them a lot, and re-arrange them. Eggs from the center to the edges, eggs from the edges to the center.

Good insight! I have a genisis 1588 forced air so temps seem always stable.I may just roll them with my hand but not sure if there will be enough room.I'll have 40+ banty eggs coming tomorrow.I had to add a cup of water in the bator to get humidty up when I was testing it.It was at 70% when I did that.Good or is that to much?
