I get my best hatches with humidity 40-45% the first 18 days, then up to 55-60% the last three. Over 65% is too high, they start to die. My theory is that the more moisture there is in the air, the less oxygen. At humidity over 65%, I think they start to suffocate.
If my humidity gets too high while the hatch is in progress, I slide 2 q-tip sticks in at 2 corners, between the lid and the base, just to open a tiny gap for more air circulation, that gets the hum back down around 60%, and the temp stays steady.
Just out of curiosity, why is the title of this thread "Hand turning", when nothing in it has been about turning the eggs at all, by hand, or otherwise?
