I have found that they really chill out and like more affection once they start laying. My ladies would not let me touch them until they started laying. Now they follow me around and squat down to be petted.

We feed ours a lot of treats. They are quite fond of peanuts. We get sacks of in-the-shell peanuts from the feedmill. Ours will jump up in our laps and beg for treats. They sometimes startle guests, especially when they sneak up on someone sitting in a lawn chair and stick their head in someone's pocket looking for peanuts!

Mine are only friendly when they see the mealworms coming! They are about to start laying... good to know that they may warm up after that. Right now they definitely do not like to be cuddled even though they did as chicks.
