Hands on hatching and help

Where do I get calcium glusate. Sorry have to needed it before now.. I'll Google the antibiotics. Thanks. :)

TSC... it's in the same area as Vetericyn, probiotics, vitamins, etc... it's in an injectable bottle so you'll need a small syringe and needle to withdraw it, but it can be given orally... Kathy has info on amounts somewhere on here too...

So I had 10 of these guinea eggs going. They started pipping last night. This morning there was one out. They are early and of course this is the day I had to take my father out of town for a dr's appointment. I could tell by mid morning that two of the eggs had quit so I went ahead and pulled them out. One was positioned with it's head down at it's feet. It looked pretty big so I'm assuming it couldn't get into position, head under wing, beak up because it had no room to do so. That egg I've not had a good feeling about for the last couple days, so It wasn't a big surprise. The other one was in position, looked good, just didn't make it to internal pip, no idea why. So that left 8. I had 6 externally pipped. By the time we had to go I had 2 out and in the brooder and 2 newly hatched in the incubator and 2 still externally pipped. I left the two in the bator while we were gone. We were gone about 4 hours. Got back and the first thing I did was came to check the babies and eggs. I moved the two to the bator with the other two and one of the pippers had been knocked across the bator and was pip down. I scooped it up, but it had expired. I have NEVER lost a pipper before. Honest to God, every egg that has made it to pip has made it out. I was so frustrated. Had I not had to go out of town, I am certain the out come would have been different. Anyway, the other one hatched and once it was rested I moved him with the other 4, so now I have five hatched and 2 that are still in there. They are both internally pipped and very active, so hopefully everything will go alright with those two and I will have 7 out of the 10 that made it to this point. So far they all look healthy and a couple were even eating. I was worried because today was just day 25. I know it's common for these guys to hatch day 26, and with the temp situation I've had for the duration of this very stressful hatch, it's not surprising, but it has been unnerving. Rather dismal hatch, this one. Not great. Don't like not great, but at least it wasn't a total loss like I thought it was going to be early on.

Sounds like a pretty good hatch to me. Especially since you have never hatched guineas before. Fingers crossed for the last 2. :)

Just wanted to give an update. It's day 4 in the brinsea and I needed to top off the water since humidity was getting low. Of coarse I couldn't resist temptation so I candled really quick. I didn't even take them out just a way bam thank you mam lol. So far I see 8 with veining already. I was so excited to see this. Their were others that could still be developing that I couldn't tell yet. But I'm just so happy they are developing.y last few batches have been dismal from the beginning. Fingers crossed they continue to thrive.. :)

Eh. I'm not used to loosing so many prior to lockdown. I usually have much higher hatch rates. Of course I usually have much steadier temps throughout the bator too.

Yeah I know you do great hatches!! I'm sure the bator isn't helping things. I know mine improved after I ditched the cheapie and bought a better one or in your case a now newer one. :)
I'm really excited to see what we get also. I really love my silkies!! :)
