Hands on hatching and help

Hi, yes I only kept the ones with good air cells and they seemed of average size for the stage I checked. I tossed 2 saddled air cells on day 14.
Yes all vents were open. My unit has quite a few tiny ones and then two bigger ones. Ok, I think I will buy another hygrometer and check them side by side for next hatch.

The humidity numbers you gave are good numbers, but going by the fully formed embryos in your own eggs, it makes me think humidity issue.

Help I have lost 4 chick that have pipped but died. I did take them out when I removed the 5 that hatched and they were normally looking in the shell and no seen reason for death. I have one that pipped 36 hours ago. I tried to help this am bc my humidity dropped to 50 overnight and I noticed membrane had turned tan. I peeled back parted of shell and moistened membrane with q tip. It is still chirping and trying to get out. Inner membrane I believe is almost shrunk wrap to this chick I keep moistening. Half the shell is now gone an d chick is kicking trying to get out but can't what do I do?

If there is no bleeding or heavy veining, you can do a full assist and help it out. If there is bleeding, the most you can do is put some Vaseline or non pain relief antibiotic lightly on the membrane to keep it most and wait. After 36 hours though, I would think you could do a full assist w/o a problem.

Yeah I think so perhaps they drowned from moisture, I am definitely going to buy a second hygrometer and try to calibrate the one I have I found an article about how to check it.

This morning 13 hours ago there's was bleeding but now I don't see any heaving veining. The chick is half way out of egg and membrane I just don't want to kill it.

I applied the nonmedicated antibiotic ointment. I am just tried to give the chick as much chance as possible to do it itself. How long do I give it now before helping it further?

If there's no veining or bleeding, I'd do a full assist and free the chick.

Is this too much veining? Sorry for so many questions this is my first hatch

I only see that one spot. That membrane does look like it dried right out. I'd free it at least down to the one vein. If it's as small as it looks, I don't think it'd be a problem. If you get down to that vein and it's more prominent than it looks, sto, but I think you could successfully do a full assist at this point. I would expect a sticky chick at this point with the membrane drying out like that.

High elevation doesn't just affect gas exchange, it affects moisture loss as well. Because the air has less molecules, both gases and water moves through the pores at a higher rate causing rapid air cell growth. Both reduced oxygen supply and dehydration are big issues of high altitude hatching.

Oh boy!!! Hopefully my hatch goes well

Candling showed good veins in my eggs so far!!!! How often should I candle to monitor the air cells? I don't want to candle more than needed, since opening the bator lowers the humidity...but want to make sure I am keeping an eye on them.
