Hands on hatching and help

Ahh!! I hear my chicks chirping away inside of their eggs!! I went dry for about 12 hours and that seems to have helped with the Bantam eggs. My Silke chicks haven't seemed to have lost any fluid I hope they still hatch! I put water back in incubator so the Bantams don't get shrink wrapped. Ahh what a stressful month!! But my god those little chirps made it all worth it! I hope next time I post it's about a pip!!

Good luck!!!

The auto turner that I was borrowing with the bator I was borrowing, died.... Bator still doing fine. With 44 eggs, I was spoiled! Now hand turning stinks...ugh! But, even with the temp "adjustment" the hubby made, I'm seeing signs of life. I'll do a true candle in a few more days. I only checked a few eggs today and they had early makings of a heart!!!

I prefer to hand turn. I used the turner the first 2 hatches and started the third with it, but pulled it and now I prefer hand turning.

I think that's kinda pricey for mixed flock eggs, but maybe not in your area.

Without a fan, you will want your temp a little higher than 99.5. More like 100.5 - 101.
You see different humidity numbers because humidity varies greatly with your local conditions. Are you high elevation? How humid is your house, and your local environment?

Kudos for doing your research ahead of time! Come back, we're here to help
That is the cheapest I can find in our area. It's crazy how the price for chicks has gone up or even a new laying bird can cost you $25 here.

Oh thank you for that great advice! As far has the elevation, we aren't that high. To be honest I'm not sure on the humidity in the house, as I've never needed to know that. I did buy a electronic device to put into the incubator though.

Thank you, my parents made me do that when I was younger, when I had to have an iguana. It has stuck with me ever since. It's good to know what you are getting yourself into. Well at least for the most part. lol

Thank you for being so willing to help, and willing for me to come back with more questions!

Pigeons too?? Where are the pics???

I still stressed during my broody hatches...lol More so....

You came to the right place!! I use the 9200, but mine has the fan installed. I'd be more thn willing to help. First still air recommendations are 101-102 with the temp taken near the top of the eggs. (Shoot for 101-101.5). Make sure that you check the thermometers and hygrometer you are using. Before you put any water in it, what is the humidity dry?

This is the humidity guide I use: http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidity
Oh I am so glad to hear that people still use these models. I couldn't believe the prices on the new incubators. I wanted the one with the fan, but you can't be picky when you buy used. I can't thank you enough for your information and for the web site! I am so excited, and yet so nervous with all this. Thank you once again for your help!
