Thanks! Good luck with your babies!!!

Could I put my quail chicks in with my chicken chicks? My two polish chicks seem lonely. I know you can't put them in together as adults but I haven't seen anywhere about where they are babies

I do not because I have always been told that quails can not be on the same bedding because they eat the wood chips.
The big ones could be early draw down? Good luck with them.
Thank you! What is early draw down? I have an external pip in one eggs tonight

May be in the others too, but I can't see them. The membrane looks good...mostly white and a little yellow. I could see the baby pushing around on it! How long from external pip til they hatch? Ducks are longer hatching process than quails and chickens? I have my humidity up so they don't dry out

After lockdown, before hatch the air cell draws down. Sometimes so much it's past the middle of the egg on the draw down side. I've had a few that scared me thinking they were going to shrinkwrap...lol

Ahhh...thank you! This makes me feel better because 2 of them when I candled Friday were WAY low...like almost to the middle of the egg

The duck hatchers here will tell you it can take up to 48 hours to progress between each stage. Internal to external and external to pip and pip to zip.

I have 2 chicks under a broody so far, 1 didn't need my help, but 1 did.
I just helped one hatch. It had a small hole around the pip zone, but couldn't move anymore. So I helped a little, pulled she'll off, waited 15 minutes, went back outside, started pulling membrane, no blood, so I kept going, Chick had already absorbed Everything, the veins, the yolk. It was just too big to turn around in the shell.

Hello, I need some advice just to ease my worrying. I have a broody have that has two chick that just hatched today which we weren't expecting. all the other eggs arent suppose to hatch for another week, shes in a small brooder box but i fear that shes going to want to give up on her other eggs and take care of just the two chicks. Will she stay on the eggs or will she continue to lay on them until they hatch? heres a pic of the brooder box i made for her

Do you think since its kinda small she'll just lay on her eggs and the chicks?

Possible from internal to zip but that doesn't mean it will.
Thank you! I now have 2 more eggs with a pip! And the one that pipped yesterday is now working on zipping his egg! Boy those eggs are rocking
