I've had some tell me just the handwashing before touching eggs, and someone told me always wear gloves....
Is handwashing enough? Or do ya'll find laytex gloves work best?
(For incubating eggs/ turning)

I have always just hand washed before and after taking care of the eggs or chickens...

I'd think handwashing would be fine. Let's face it - the underside of a momma hen is not the most sterile environment...

I'm allergic to laytex but still I'd choose handwashing. Some of those eggs the hen sits on have poo on them and they hatch fine... go figure...lol

Handwashing is most effective if you lather for a minimum of 20 seconds before rinsing. That is actually more effective than using anti-bacterial soap, unless of course you do the 20 sec routine with the anti-bacterial soap too. However, anti-bacterial soap is not necessary if you practice the 20 sec routine with ordinary hand soap. I hope that isn't confusing.
