Okay, so I bought a couple of these waterers

http://www.cutlersupply.com/store/item.0534.html

Now I have to figure out how to hang them. The connection is 1/2" pipe thread, not hose threading, so hanging it directly from a hose is out. Having some flex in the line seems like a good idea. Anyone have pictures of how they have suspended them?

I'm thinking replacing the current faucet with a T and running PVC up the wall, across the ceiling and then down again, but then I'm wondering what to connect it to to give it some flexibility????

Now, mind you, I've never done this PVC stuff myself before, but....I think I can.

So....I know some of you must have installed these things. Can you share some pix of the setup????

Thank You

Susan

Susan, there are pipe thread to hose thread connectors. ususlly found in with the plumbing supplies. I got mine at home depot. or you could use a fawcet head if you cannot find the connectors. good luck

Well, duh, of course there are.
I even have a few of them around, although they are for 3/4" connections.
Guess I'll be off to Home Depot later today.

Thanks for reminding me...

Susan,

I'm glad my pic gave you some ideas. If you run into any mounting issues, let me know.

BTW...the cooler full of water lasted about 3-4 weeks first time around during a VERY HOT summer here in the DFW area.

You know, I hung three of them last week, and boy am I glad not to be dealing with sludgy old water troughs anymore.

Two of them are just attached to the ends of hoses which are suspended from hooks. One of them is suspended from a faucet with a collection of parts of pipe that brought it close enough to the ground.

I love these things !!!!!

I might need more chickens just so I can put some more of them up around.

I love mine I wish I had bought them last year. We hooked them up with pvc and ran one to each pen. I also keep a bottle brush in each pen and just clean them once a week.

I like the looks of this setup but what do you do when winter hits.. ??

Start packing water again..

I like to make things easier for myself as well.. So I'm very curious..

Poison Ivy, Do you have any problems with your chickens standing on top of the water bowl ? Just curious? I was thinking of using the automatic waterer but had this thought.
