Hanging feeder clearance issue

I took the thing apart, and realized it was cone shaped. BY turning it upside down I put the smaller end down into the pan. This gives the birds an additional 1/2 inch or so to get their beaks in the feed. I had to drill 4 holes on that end of it to accept the support rods for the pan, but it only took a minute, and if I ever want to use it to feed smaller birds or chicks again all I have to do is flip it back over. I believe the manufacturer had this in mind because the small end of the bucket was indented at the right spots to assist in drilling the holes in the proper place for the pans support rods.

I agree. I feed my birds crumbles as they seem to eat it better then the pellets and I get less waste.

It keeps the waste down by preventing the birds from scratching it with their feet, billing out with their beaks, and fouling it with feces...Definitely worth the small investment.
